Job Description

Mission Kharkiv is one of the largest medical charitable organizations in Ukraine, providing systematic support to adult patients with oncological diseases. Since 2022, the organization has implemented large-scale programs including medication supply, patient transportation and evacuation, first aid, hygiene kits, psychosocial support for beneficiaries, and capacity building for medical personnel.

The Social Specialist (Mobile Team) provides social support and assistance to vulnerable populations in communities with limited access to social services. The role involves field visits, assessment of social needs, provision of social, psychosocial, and legal support, and coordination with specialized services and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support in the Field

  • Conduct field activities as part of a mobile team to provide social, psychosocial, and legal support to beneficiaries.
  • Identify individuals and families in need of social assistance.
  • Provide social services including counseling, information, physical assistance, advocacy, and case management according to the needs of beneficiaries.
  • Inform beneficiaries about available services and access to assistance.
  • Refer beneficiaries to specialized services as needed (medical, psychological, social, legal).
  • Provide home-based support services, including assistance with self-care, mobility, household tasks, and coordination with other specialists and services.
  • Conduct follow-up and case monitoring to ensure beneficiaries receive necessary support.
  • Participate in project planning and team meetings.
  • Maintain communication with local authorities, institutions, and other humanitarian organizations; make referrals as required.
  • Record beneficiary information and maintain case files in Mission Kharkiv’s internal database.

Requirements

  • Higher education in social work, social pedagogy, psychology, law, or other related social-humanitarian fields.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in social services.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and methodologies in social assistance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality principles and handling of personal data.
  • Project management skills: planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • English language proficiency at least at A2 level.
  • Practical experience in organizing administrative and business processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of project management and implementation principles.
  • Ability to work under challenging conditions, autonomous, proactive, and flexible.
