Mission Kharkiv Against Cancer: Early Detection Saves Lives

We aim to empower Ukrainians and to take proactive measures towards cancer prevention and early detection.

Cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide.

The Mission

Mission Kharkiv Against Cancer: Early Detection Saves Lives aims to create awareness about the significant health threats posed by gynecological, breast, gastrointestinal and other types of cancers among the populace of Ukraine.

Mission Kharkiv team regularly visits Ukrainian villages and conducts face-to-face discussions on cancer awareness. We talk about the risk factors, symptoms, prevention strategies, and the importance of early detection for cancers.

Early detection of cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and reduces treatment-related morbidity. Unfortunately, awareness about these types of cancer, their risk factors, symptoms, and the necessity of regular check-ups is still relatively low in Ukraine.

Such unawareness can lead to late diagnosis, where treatment options may be less effective and the prognosis poorer. Furthermore, Mission Kharkiv team witnessed first-hand the hardships that patients and their families go through when a diagnosis comes too late.

Breaking Down
Barriers:

Addressing Social Stigma

Cancer carries a significant societal stigma, and there are many misconceptions about the disease.

This project aims to confront these issues head-on, promoting an open, accurate dialogue about cancer, debunking myths, and thereby reducing the fear associated with cancer diagnosis.

Our multi-pronged approach includes traditional and digital media campaigns, creating and distributing awareness content, organizing community outreach programs, and fostering partnerships with local influencers and celebrities
