Cancer Awareness

Mission Kharkiv is building education and diagnostic programs that help people catch cancer early.

Early detection saves lives

Catching cancer early can improve your survival chances by nearly 50%.

Finding it before it spreads also makes it cheaper, quicker and easier to treat. In a country where healthcare is already impacted by war, early detection is a matter of life and death.

Our Cancer Awareness mission aims to improve general understanding of cancer types, symptoms, causes, and treatments amongst Ukrainians. Due to stigma, lack of access to information, and the increasing spread of misinformation, awareness in Ukraine today remains low.

Our multi-pronged approach includes traditional and digital media campaigns, creating and distributing awareness content, organizing community outreach programs, and fostering partnerships with local influencers and celebrities.

Our team regularly visits Ukrainian villages and conducts face-to-face discussions on cancer awareness. We emphasize the importance of regular check-ups, knowledge of risk factors and preventative measures, and aim to reduce the stigma around cancer, all to prevent the tragedy of a diagnosis that comes too late.

Reducing stigma

Cancer carries significant societal stigma, and there are many misconceptions about the disease. Our project aims to confront these issues head-on, promoting open, accurate dialogue about cancer, debunking myths, and reducing the fear associated with a cancer diagnosis.

Studies show that maintaining a positive outlook contributes significantly to whether a patient’s treatment will be successful, and through our program, we aim to give our patients every tool we can to fight their disease.
