Cancer Medication Support

Mission Kharkiv provides full-course chemotherapy treatments to patients in besieged and underserved areas, ensuring no one is left without critical cancer medications.

Cancer Medication Support, a key initiative of our Ukraine Cancer Relief Program, ensures patients receive life-saving treatment when other options are unavailable—whether due to cost, supply shortages, or logistical challenges. We work in partnership with government agencies like Medical Procurement for Ukraine and oncology providers to address critical gaps, sourcing essential medications beyond the reach of standard systems.

  • 70% of Patients are Women
  • $36+ Million Worth of Medications Provided

How We Source Medication

We collaborate with leading international humanitarian organizations such as Americares, Direct Relief, and MSF to request critical oncology treatments. These requests are carefully coordinated with government agencies to avoid duplication and focus on sourcing medications that are challenging to secure through official procurement channels in Ukraine.

Most of the medication requires strict cold-chain storage between 36°F to 46°F (+2°C and +8°C). To meet this need, we designed and built the Pharma Bunker—a secure, autonomous facility located 4 meters underground. Its missile-proof construction ensures the safety of life-saving medications, even in high-risk environments.

Once our requests are fulfilled, our international partners typically handle the transportation of the medications to our facilities, where they are prepared for local distribution.

How It Works

  1. Patients provide us with relevant documents: ID, IPN, medical records, and histological and radiological exams verifying their diagnosis.
  2. Patients provide us with a signed and sealed doctor’s prescription to reserve medication from Mission Kharkiv.
  3. After we verify their documents and establish a connection with them and their doctors, Mission Kharkiv reserves the entire treatment for approved patients and stores the medication in our bomb-proof cold-chain warehouse.
  4. We provide the patient with one dose of medication needed for one round of prescribed treatment.
  5. We provide our donors with detailed reports of how and where medications are being used in real-time.
  6. Finally, we carry out statistical data analysis to track the efficacy of our Oncology Program and ensure any future decisions we make are data-driven.
