Job Description
Mission Kharkiv is one of the largest medical charitable organizations in Ukraine in terms of the volume of aid provided. One of the key areas of our work is the systemic support of adult patients with oncological diseases.

Since 2022, our organization has been implementing large-scale programs for the delivery of medicines, transportation and evacuation of patients, provision of first aid, distribution of hygiene kits, as well as providing psychosocial support to beneficiaries and strengthening the capacity of medical personnel.

Role Summary:
The Mental Health Specialist within the Mobile Medical Team is responsible for providing psychosocial support to communities in Kharkiv region affected by the war. The role involves fieldwork as part of a multidisciplinary team, conducting individual and group consultations, and integrating mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) components into the overall activities of the mobile team. The work aims to reduce distress among beneficiaries, strengthen their psychological resilience, improve access to appropriate services, and facilitate early identification of cases requiring further specialized support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychosocial support and Psychological First Aid (PFA) as part of the Mobile Medical Team.
  • Participate in field missions together with the project team.
  • Follow the work plan and schedule of the mobile team.
  • Conduct individual and/or group psychological consultations in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Assess beneficiaries’ psychosocial status, develop individualized support plans, and refer to other specialists if needed.
  • Prevent stigmatization and conduct psychological awareness activities.
  • Conduct surveys, psychological assessments, testing, and data analysis.
  • Analyze feedback and improve interventions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on activities and maintain timely documentation.
  • Ensure integration of mental health activities into the overall project program.

Requirements:

  • Higher education in Psychology (mandatory).
  • Additional professional training: certificates, courses, supervision, or programs in mental health and psychosocial support.
  • At least 2–3 years of practical experience in mental health or psychosocial support, including working with individuals in distress or crisis situations.
  • Experience providing individual and group consultations.
  • Understanding of basic principles and approaches in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
  • High level of confidentiality, ethics, and responsibility; sensitivity in working with vulnerable groups.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain documentation and prepare reports according to project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Problem Management Plus (PM+) or Self-Help Plus (SH+).
  • Experience with PFA or other MHPSS interventions.
  • Experience in humanitarian or medical projects, particularly in mobile teams.
  • Knowledge of international MHPSS standards (IASC Guidelines, Sphere Standards).
