General Practitioner (GP)
Job Description
Mission Kharkiv is one of the largest medical charitable organizations in Ukraine, focusing on systematic support for adult patients with oncological diseases. Since 2022, the organization has implemented large-scale programs including medication provision, patient transportation and evacuation, first aid, hygiene kits, psychosocial support for beneficiaries, and capacity building for medical personnel.
The Family Doctor in the mobile team provides primary healthcare to vulnerable populations in communities with limited access to medical services. The doctor conducts home visits, sees patients at designated points of the Valky Primary Health Care Center, provides diagnostics, treatment, referrals, and maintains medical documentation in accordance with national standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Care and Diagnostics
- Provide consultations, conduct basic physical examinations, and measure vital signs.
- Prescribe treatment and issue prescriptions, including medications under the “Affordable Medicines” program.
- Monitor adherence to treatment regimens and advise on complication prevention.
- Identify the need for hospitalization or referral to secondary or tertiary care.
- Regularly assess patients with chronic illnesses, people with disabilities, elderly patients, women, and children.
Collaboration with Healthcare Institutions
- Coordinate with the Valky Primary Health Care Center (PHC).
- Coordinate with the project manager.
- Agree on visit schedules in cooperation with medical specialists.
- Share clinical information with specialists and other levels of care, with patient consent.
Coordination and Reporting
- Maintain primary medical documentation, complete patient visit forms, and manage patient records in the medical information system (MIS).
- Prepare weekly reports on medical activities and submit them to the medical specialist and/or project manager.
- Assess patients according to multi-purpose cash assistance criteria and refer patients to healthcare specialists and cash assistance specialists.
- Ensure confidentiality and adherence to professional ethics while working with patients.
Requirements
- Education: Medical degree, specialty in General Practice – Family Medicine.
- Experience: At least 2 years at the primary healthcare level; experience in humanitarian or mobile clinics is a plus.
- Access to a current MIS system and the ability to record consultations in the MIS for the “Primary Healthcare for Adults and Children in Ambulatory Settings” service package under the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).
- Highly valued: flexibility, resilience, willingness to work in field conditions, adherence to humanitarian principles.
